Launched in July 2015, Canon’s all-in-one document preparation software, PRISMAprepare 6.2 streamlines the make-ready process from composition to production for both Print Service Providers (PSPs) and in-house print environments. The solution helps shorten production turnaround times, boost productivity and reduce operational costs.
We’ve introduced features and licensing to address issues faced by both external PSPs and smaller CRDs to enable them to maximise production,
explains ErnstJan de Bruin, European & UK Product Business Developer (PRISMA Solutions), Canon Europe.
New features include a content editing functionality to easily make last-minute changes to a document, avoiding the need to send it back to customer for resubmission. Colour adjustment can also be applied simultaneously to multiple images, even if on different pages.
The soft proofing tool enables print buyers to annotate the file with any errors and send it back to the print provider for correction, enabling a more convenient and faster method of validating print jobs, while also reducing paper waste. “This feature makes the software excellent value for money as it gives a level of functionality only otherwise seen in significantly more expensive software packages,” adds de Bruin.
Pre-press operators can also preview, create and modify the size and position of the PDF boxes from the PRISMAprepare interface, as well as filling the bleed area with a colour selected from the system colour palette or from the document using the colour picker. In addition, there is native file support for opening and printing Microsoft® Office documents (Word, PowerPoint® and Excel®) without converting them outside the application, enabling a quicker job turnaround, while also optimising the print quality by being able to control the conversion settings.
The software supports Canon’s high-end imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices and the full ranges of Canon VarioPrint, imagePRESS and Océ VarioPrint line-ups, as well as other colour and monochrome production cut-sheet presses.
